CYO Recital Competition

Rules:

Participant must submit a $35 entry fee prior to the competition. This fee helps cover the cost of the competition venue and judges we hire.

Participant's music selection must be approved by the conductor of their ensemble.

Competition is open to all members of any CYO ensemble.

Participant must enter the competition on the instrument which they play in a CYO ensemble. Piano is not allowed.

Participant is expected to play a single solo work. If the chosen work has multiple movements, the participant may only play one of the movements. Chosen work should reflect participant's current level of musicianship and the level of the ensemble in which they play.

All solo accompanied and unaccompanied repertoire is eligible. Etudes and orchestral studies are ineligible with exception of Caprices.
Competition and Recital:

Competition is a single round. Multiple winners may be selected to perform at the recital.

Both competition and recital are on the same day. Please make sure you are available to perform at the recital should you pass the competition round.

Participant must have an accompanist if their piece includes accompaniment.

It is not required, but highly recommended, to memorize the music.
